How to apply
Apply online at ACRO.
You will need to download the application form (Microsoft Word document), fill it out, and then email it to policecertificateapp@acro.police.uk along with the required supporting documents.
You do have the option of posting a physical copy.
What to provide
You will need to provide the following:
- Fully completed application form
- Colour copy of your passport
- One recent passport style photograph
- Additional relevant documents, e.g. power of attorney
- Signed terms and conditions

Fees to pay
Each United Kingdom Police Clearance Certificate costs £55. After sending in your application by email, you will be emailed a link for making the payment online.
For international courier delivery, an additional fee of £48 will apply.
Processing time
The processing time for a UK PCC will will take up to 30 days. It does not include the delivery time as the certificate will be posted to you.
International delivery might add another 20 working days to the timeline.
Further information
If your police certificate states 'No Live Trace' this means you have convictions that have been 'stepped down'. These convictions still form part of your criminal history and should be declared and explained in any application you make to Immigration New Zealand.
UK ACRO can provide you with details of the stepped down offence over the phone. Please ensure you provide Immigration New Zealand the date, location, offence and outcome in your declaration.
The blue 'Subject Access Request' certificate issued under the Data Protection Act is not acceptable.
Your certificate must be less than 6 months old when you submit your application to Immigration New Zealand.
