ABC Care Home located in Napier is searching for an Activities Assistant with a creative flair and Caregivers to join our passionate team. These are casual positions. There are no guaranteed weekly hours. It will be based on the need at the care home.

In the role of an Activities Assistant, you will be supporting the Activities Coordinator, identifying the leisure activity needs of each of the ABC Care Home residents based on their interests, preferences, and abilities and contribute to the planning and implementation of individual and group activities programmes.

As a Caregiver at ABC, you will work under the guidance and supervision of qualified nursing staff and management, to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents. You will be encouraged to develop deeper relationships with residents and their families, delivering the highest quality person-first care to residents in line with their individual care plan.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities of an Activities Assistant

- Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities.
- Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
- Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
- Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.

About You as an Activities Assistant

- An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
- Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
- Demonstrate outstanding communication skills.
- A fun personality with a creative flair.

Where You Will Make an Impact as a Caregiver

- Provide personal care assistance with daily living, whilst treating residents with respect and dignity.
- Mobility assistance in accordance with resident care plans.
- Maintain accurate health care documentation as required.
- Encourage all residents to participate in scheduled social activities.
- Contribute to the development of a positive, safe, home environment for residents, visitors, and the wider team.

What About You as a Caregiver

- An NZQA Health and Wellbeing Certificate Level 2-4 is preferred.
- Ideally you will have a minimum of 1 year of experience within aged care.
- Demonstrate genuine enthusiasm, dedication to care, and passion for enriching the lives of the elderly.
- Confident communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
