ABC is currently looking for a permanent part-time Community Support Worker to work in our Supported Independent living service in Invercargill.

The role

We are looking for enthusiastic, community-minded, and compassionate people to work alongside people with intellectual disabilities. We focus on self-development, where you will have a chance to train and gain further education on the job, which enhances your CV within the organisation. Our starting rate is $24.78 an hour and increases to $29.10 after completing your Career Force Level 4 qualification with us, which is on job-based training. We offer a lot of training which ensures you have the skills to be the best support person within ABC.

Key Responsibilities

Your days may vary, but will consist of:

- Engaging with clients.
- Setting and achieving individual personal goals.
- Encouraging client participation in day-to-day life.
- Supporting them with activities of daily living.
- Ensuring support with medication and considering client needs.
- Supporting clients with personal hygiene.
- Activities within the community.
- Supporting social and whanau connection.
- Motivating clients to know they have a purpose.
- Ensuring client processes are accurately documented.

Most importantly, supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives.

We are looking for someone who follows the company’s values of being Vibrant, Innovative, Supportive, and Professional. We have longevity within our teams, and the ability to move around services or departments.

This is a part-time position at present, with shifts on Sunday to Tuesday. As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend, awake night, and sleepover shifts.

No qualifications are needed, however, there will be an expectation that you will be willing to work towards a Level 4 in Health & Disability. You will inspire, encourage, and be a role model plus have excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can do’ attitude. A full driver's license is required as you will be expected to drive clients when needed. Computer skills are essential. If on a work visa, it must be valid for at least twelve months.
