ABC is currently looking for experienced permanent Community Support Workers for our new service in the Motueka Area.

This is a highly complex service and can be challenging, so those with support worker experience or who either have, or are willing to work towards achieving a qualification of an NZ certificate in health & wellbeing would be most suitable for this position.

The role

We are beginning to work in the Motueka area and are looking for ‘superstar’ support workers for our organisation to work with clients both in the community and with clients progressing into new homes. We need skilled and experienced support workers with excellent communication skills with a positive attitude who can work independently as well as in a team environment. You will initially work with our clients in the community with the focus on preparing them for a move from their existing living environments into their new homes once they are available.

Support Work is fun, people-facing, challenging and very rewarding! The job entails you to engage with clients from all walks of life, to enable them to live every day to their fullest. You will need to support them with varied tasks & goals.

Your days will vary and consist of:

- Engaging with clients.
- Setting and achieving individual personal goals
- Encouraging client participation in day-to-day life
- Supporting them with activities of daily living
- Ensuring support with medication and considering client needs
- Supporting clients with personal hygiene
- Activities within the community
- Supporting social and whanau connection
- Motivating clients to know they have purpose
- Ensuring client processes are accurately documented
- Most importantly supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives

We focus on self-development, where you will have a chance to train and gain further education on the job, which enhances your CV within the organisation. Our starting rate is $24.78 an hour and increases to $29.10 after completing your Career Force Level 4 qualification with us. This is on the job-based training. ABC offers a lot of other training to ensure you have the skills to be the best support person you can be.

Experience support workers needed. You will inspire, encourage and be a role model plus have excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

- A full driver's licence as you will be expected to drive clients when needed
- Computer skills are essential
- If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months
