We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting people with high and complex needs to lead fulfilling lives in the community. Our services provide a safe and positive environment where our clients are assisted to achieve maximum independence.

ABC is currently looking for a permanent Community Support Worker to work in our intellectual disability residential service in Dunedin.

The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic, community-minded, and compassionate people to work alongside individuals who have intellectual disabilities. We focus on self-development, where you will have a chance to train and gain further education on the job, enhancing your CV within the organization. Our starting rate is $24.78 an hour and increases to $29.10 after completing your Career Force Level 4 qualification with us, which is on job-based training. We offer a lot of training to ensure you have the skills to be the best support person within ABC.

Key Responsibilities

Your days may vary but will consist of:
- Engaging with clients
- Setting and achieving individual personal goals
- Encouraging client participation in day-to-day life
- Supporting them with activities of daily living
- Ensuring support with medication and considering client needs
- Supporting clients with personal hygiene
- Activities within the community
- Supporting social and whanau connection
- Motivating clients to know they have a purpose
- Ensuring client processes are accurately documented
- Most importantly, supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives

We are looking for someone who follows the company’s values of being Vibrant, Innovative, Supportive, and Professional. We have longevity within our teams and the ability to move around services or departments.

1 x Part-time position (32 hours a week) includes weekend work and the occasional sleepovers. As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend, awake night, and sleepover shifts.

No qualifications are needed; however, there will be an expectation that you will be willing to work towards a Level 4 in Health & Disability. You will inspire, encourage, and be a role model, plus have excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.
