Full time – Permanent position

$75,000 - $90,000 for max 45h / week based on your experience

or $32,05 - $38.46 / hour as initial pay for minimum 30h / week and maximum 45h / week based on your experience

ABC operates on a 5-day weekly roster basis, open for lunch daily and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights only, weekend work required. So, a great opportunity also to regain free evenings, as well as enjoying the fantastic lifestyle Waiheke Island has to offer.

ABC, is an award-winning Restaurant on the beautiful Waiheke island, specializing in traditional and modern Italian cuisine. We are now looking for expressions of interest for one permanent position as Head Chef to work closely with Antonio Crisci, the executive chef who is planning to retire soon from any active work in the kitchen.

A true chef’s dream, ABC uses only the freshest seasonal produce and takes from its kitchen garden daily, formulating menus that are truly seasonal. The owner, acclaimed chef ABC, has created a slice of Italy which needs to be seen and tasted to be believed.

The successful candidate will have a passion and flair for Italian food, as well as the skills to manage staff in a busy kitchen, providing junior staff with training and guidance, creating fantastic looking and tasting dishes, and designing menus regularly to coincide with the freshest produce available to us from our extensive kitchen garden and trusted suppliers.

The candidate will need to have a minimum of 3 years’ experience and strong leadership skills. No formal qualification is required, just the right positive attitude, enthusiasm, and experience.

You will also need to understand and manage our existing food safety plan and prepare monthly stocktakes to evaluate the cost of the food.

You will be in charge of designing and facilitating the menus for large scale events in coordination with the Restaurant Manager and with Antonio.
