To enable us to keep moving at speed, we are looking for an experienced and proactive hydraulic modeller with a keen interest in leading projects that use technology to create innovative solutions. This is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer or scientist with a background in modelling to join our highly supportive and experienced Water Engineering team in Auckland. There is plenty of scope to make this role your own, add value and really make a difference on our projects.

In this role there will be opportunities to work on interesting projects, at regional, catchment and site-scale including:

Working closely with flood protection and catchment planning teams at councils across New Zealand.
Project management and leadership.
Flood risk assessment, mitigation, and design. For councils, government agencies, the private sector and overseas.
Integrated catchment management planning.
Hydrological analysis.
Hydraulic analysis for large design projects and alliances.
Innovation and tool development.

Na tōu rourou | What you'll bring

6+ years of relevant experience (including 20+ years) - we can be flexible for the right candidates
Relevant science degree or BE (hons) Civil Engineering / Engineering Science / Natural Resources / Environmental engineering (or similar)
Knowledge of GIS systems and scripting
Experienced in hydraulic analysis using relevant modelling software e.g. DHI, TUFLOW, Infoworks ICM, HEC-RAS. A background that includes urban stormwater modelling experience is desirable.

Ability to coach junior modellers.
Experience or interest in managing projects, being proactive in understanding client needs to scope and deliver projects with great community outcomes.
Demonstrated ability of providing technical review and model QA.
Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary team
Proven experience with client engagement, delivery and great business acumen.
Excellent written and spoken English language skills with the ability to explain complex hydraulics to technical and non-technical audiences.
