We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Consultant to join us and be part of our successful and growing Sustainability + Climate team. You will work with people across ABC and alongside our clients to deliver great outcomes for clients and the communities they work in.

We are seeking a leader in the climate change advisory area. The ideal person will have strong technical understanding of climate risk, adaptation, mitigation, disclosures and broader sustainability, including knowledge in methods, concepts, and approaches. We are seeking someone who will work with existing senior staff to lead business development activities and build enduring relationships with clients and partners, along with leading and managing projects from initiation to completion.

We have six offices across New Zealand and as a flexible working business, we are open to someone that would like to work from our regional offices.

Na tōu rourou | What you'll bring:
- 15+ years experience in delivering climate change-related projects with public and private sector clients, including climate-related disclosures, climate risk assessments, policy advice, adaptation planning etc.
- Bachelor's or Masters degree or similar qualification in relevant disciplines
- Recognised technical leadership in helping clients, communities and organisations to adapt to and mitigate climate impacts.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the climate-related disclosures regime in New Zealand.
- Demonstrated ability to win work, build client relationships and lead project teams.
- An ability to collaborate across diverse teams, including guiding and developing less experienced team members.
- Ideally, working knowledge of te ao māori concepts, and iwi/māori engagement
- Ideally, a background or strong knowledge of the infrastructure sector.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to formulate and articulate contractual, technical, financial, and value points with clients and partners.
- Passion, ability, and creativity to develop innovative methods, concepts, and approaches.
