Senior Software Engineer

Full time Permanent Position - 40 hours per week

Four available positions

Based in Wellington Central however flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in NZ

About the role

Currently there are four vacancies for Senior Software Engineers. These positions are across multiple projects and work streams.

These roles will be contributing to the replacement/decommissioning legacy systems with modern architecture cloud-based solutions, project work such as digital assessments and upgrades to our qualifications framework, NCEA exam cycle processes, technical debt, operational support of the underlying business applications, integration of internal and external facing systems, and development of new initiatives.

About you!

You possess a strong desire to learn, have excellent problem solving, multi-tasking and context-switching abilities, and have solid proven experience in enterprise Java development.  Additionally, you will be well versed with all areas of the SDLC and had exposure to DevOps practices.

Skills and experience

5+ years' work experience in a JEE development environment, preferably gained on complex multi-tier web-based business applications.
Core Java and Java enterprise (Must have solid proven experience)
Spring (Spring Boot and common libraries), Hibernate, JPA, XML, SQL
Web development and frameworks - JBoss, JSP, JavaScript (including common libraries), HTML/CSS
API/REST development and integration
Git, Gradle and Maven, Jenkins, command line scripting
AWS experience, Docker and API development on ECS/Lambda a big bonus
