ABC is a progressive food ingredients manufacturer with processing facilities in Gisborne, manufacturing value-added vegetable powders for both domestic & export markets.

We currently have an excellent opportunity at our Gisborne plant for two highly motivated and skilled permanent Trades people to join the ABC Engineering Team. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, these positions are critical in providing engineering and mechanical services to the plant, including the maintenance of industrial equipment.

About you:

Successful candidates will ideally have previous experience in the food, dairy or pharmaceutical industry and the ability to not just 'do the job', but to use their analytical and problem-solving skills to provide top level service to the manufacturing plant. Working as part of a maintenance team, candidates will have good interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done.

Qualifications & skills:

- Relevant Mechanical Trades Certification or Engineering Qualifications
- Excellent general knowledge and experience in engineering repair and maintenance.
- Ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions on a timely basis.
- Experience in the food or beverage manufacturing industry or similar environments.
- Organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise workload in a challenging environment.
- Be self-motivated & capable of working both independently and in a team.
- Have experience in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Conveyors, Motor/gearboxes & pumps.
- Good understanding of workplace H&S.
- Competent in MIG and TIG welding Mild steel, Stainless and Aluminium.
- Boiler Ticket (Class 2) – Preferred but not essential.
- Refrigeration experience – Preferred but not essential.

Role responsibilities include repairs, maintenance, alterations and additions to plant, equipment, and systems. Throughout the main harvesting season approx. Jan-Aug there will be rotational shift work, as the plant operates 24 hours a day between Monday to Sunday. We are very lucky to enjoy a quieter off season over the early summer months and enjoy a great work life balance.
