Reporting to the Farm Manager, we are seeking a diligent and motivated team members to perform a variety of tasks and support our farm operations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in the agricultural sector and contribute to the success of the farm.

The farm produces approximately 90,000 kgs of milk solids and is located at Ruatoki, Bay of Plenty, 26 kilometres south of the town of Whakatane with a pasture area of 135 hectares of flat land.  The farm infrastructure consists of a 20-aside herringbone shed, and a 3-bay shed for rearing calves, and we winter 270 cows plus replacement stock on the farm.

Minimum guaranteed hours of work are 30 hours per week with up to 45 hours during peak times on an 11 on 3 off roster.

Key responsibilities include:

Milking cows
Handling stock
Feeding out
Identifying animal health issues and treating
Assisting with calving and calf rearing
Operating and maintaining farm equipment and machinery
Assisting with weed control
Operating and maintaining the farm effluent system
Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of farm buildings and equipment
Maintaining fences and tracks
Following health and safety and environmental procedures

Key requirements:

Previous experience in farming or a related field preferred but not essential
A passion for the agricultural industry
Demonstrated aptitude for learning
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate farm equipment and machinery
Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in various weather conditions
Good written and verbal skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Good communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends as needed
A full driver’s license

There is on-farm shared accommodation available for the right person.
